Here's how I make quick and ez nipples for my girls. It works pretty well and no casting or sculpting is required. For this demo I used a Babs
Model Muse body I had laying around. It will work on any hard plastic figure, don't know about soft busted ones.
"Our victim"
The first thing I do is mark the location using a push pin to make a dimple as a starter location.
Next I drill the location using a pin vise.
Ready for the inserts.
Put a small dab of plastic cement on one end of the rod and insert into the holes. I use .030 Evergreen brand plastic rod (available at most hobby shops).
Cut the rod just a bit longer than the end of the breast. Sprue cutters work quite well for this.
Next I round the tip with fine sandpaper and apply liquid plastic cement. This will soften the tip slightly and help ensure a good bond.
After the cement has dried, I clean the entire area with nail polish remover. I then apply the templates which are just a double layer of good quality masking
tape punched with a standard hole punch.
I then mix the desired color. The trick here is to keep the amount of paint on the brush to a minimum and drybrush or "stipple" the color as
desired. Do not apply the paint thickly, 2 light coats are better than one. Remove the tape before the paint dries completely.
Here's our completed model with a friend who already had molded nipples but got painted at the same time.
Hope someone finds this helpful.
